Zack/Cora Frank
A photographer, filmmaker, and Marine Corps veteran, and a former Smithsonian, National Park Service, and U.S. Forest Service staffer. They make Future National Parks and the Megatherium Club, a YouTube channel of guides to National Parks and historic sites and films about American history.
Their book Undiscovered America documents 53 American landscapes that deserve to be National Parks. The writing and photographs came from an 18,000-mile road trip, funded by 272 Kickstarter backers. The film of the same name tells the story of all 53 places on YouTube.
The photographs of the 53 places on this site are their own. Photographs of the other proposals are credited on each page.
What this site is
Future National Parks follows every serious proposal for a new National Park in the United States: 143 places, the case for each one, the campaigns working to protect them, and every National Park bill in Congress.
Each place has a history of the efforts to protect it, with its sources listed on the page. Each bill tracker shows the date it was last checked. When something changes, the page changes.
Future National Parks is a Megatherium Club project. It is independent and is not affiliated with the National Park Service.
